OUR POLICIES

Please read below for our Mission Statement, Code of Conduct, and Discrimination & Harassment policies – all extremely important to what makes OzCon International a safe space for our attendees.

WHO WE ARE

Since its founding in 1964 – originally as Winkie Convention – OzCon International has always been a place created by and for people of all walks of life to come together over their love of Oz and feel safe, seen, and accepted. Born in the backyard of one of our founders, OzCon International has long been a space where diversity wasn’t just welcomed—it was woven into the very heart of the convention.

OUR MISSION

OzCon International is, and always will be, a safe space—built on kindness, love, and respect.

We celebrate the world of Oz in all its forms—literature, pop culture, fandom, and imagination. For 125 years, the Land of Oz has inspired dreamers, readers, geeks, nerds, and creatives from every walk of life. For decades, OzCon International has been a place to come together and revel in that magic.

Currently led by a very small volunteer team of LGBTQ+, neurodiverse volunteers and allies, we are committed to ensuring that OzCon remains a welcoming, affirming, and joyful community for everyone.

Moving forward, these values will guide every decision we make and shape how we operate—always.

In that spirit, we invite you to read our updated policies below.

Signed with heart, brains, and courage!

The Volunteer Operational Team – OzCon International

“Our Land of Oz is a Land of Love, and here friendship outranks every other quality. Unless you can all be friends, you cannot retain our love.”
— L. Frank Baum, Tik-Tok of Oz (1913)
