DISCRIMINATION & HARASSMENT

Please read below for our Discrimination & Harassment policy.

DISCRIMINATION & HARASSMENT POLICY

Our Commitment

OzCon International is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all attendees, volunteers, guests, and participants. We do not tolerate discrimination or harassment in any form—whether in person, online, or within any spaces affiliated with the convention.

OzCon has always been a place where individuality, creativity, and community thrive. We celebrate diversity across race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, body size, disability, neurodiversity, age, religious belief (or non-belief), and all intersections therein.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination and harassment. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Discrimination: Any unfair or prejudicial treatment based on identity, appearance, background, or personal characteristics.
  • Harassment: Unwanted verbal, physical, or visual conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment—including slurs, threats, stalking, offensive jokes, and unsolicited contact.
  • Sexual Harassment: Any unwelcome sexual attention, advances, or physical contact, including innuendos, inappropriate comments, or gestures.
  • Bullying: Targeted behaviors meant to intimidate, belittle, or exclude others—whether in public or private settings.

Reporting & Response

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this policy, we urge you to report it immediately to a designated OzCon International volunteer. All reports will be taken seriously, handled confidentially, and investigated promptly.

Outcomes may include:

  • Verbal warnings
  • Removal from specific activities or spaces
  • Ejection from the event without refund
  • Bans from future events
  • Legal or external reporting when necessary

We encourage a “see something, say something” approach. You don’t need to be the target of harmful behavior to report it.

Accessibility & Affirmation

We strive to create spaces that are physically, emotionally, and socially accessible to all. We welcome feedback and are actively working to improve access, representation, and affirmation for marginalized communities in every aspect of our convention—from programming to volunteer leadership.

In Practice

This policy is not just about what we prohibit—it’s about what we promote. At OzCon, we foster:

  • Kindness over cruelty
  • Curiosity over judgment
  • Consent over assumption
  • Community over exclusion
